Tawlet Al Zaher”
Commonly called “tawlit zaher”, backgammon is an oriental board
game that could easily be likened to a checkers game played with
dice. A true ancestor of table games, among many others, the oldest
backgammon dates back (almost) 5,000 years.
In Lebanon, backgammon is much more than just a game to pass the
time; it’s a cornerstone of Lebanese identity.
The material of the stones is melamine.
Brought to you from the old Souk, Jbeil.
Lebanon has been famous for the craftsmanship of its people since the Phoenician era, one of the only countries whose craft goes back so far in History.
Traditional Lebanese handicrafts are considered to be a major sector of the living cultural heritage in the rural areas of Lebanon. Transmitted from one generation to another and many local NGOs are doing their best to preserve Lebanon's cultural heritage.
